In the spring of 1973 a group of Square Dancers were wanting to get Square Dancing started in Quartzsite, Az. They started using live music, a group of fiddlers, this did not work out. So in the Fall of 1974 Cactus Dodgers Square Dance Club was originally formed. The name was later officially changed to Cactus Dodgers Square and Round dance Club to recognize Round Dancing. They would travel to Blythe, Ca. to Fumbling Feet Club and Dance to Caller Bob Copple . Arrangement were later made for Bob Copple to come to Quartzsite to call. Round Dance lessons were taught by Sam Panioque who Cued for Fumbling Feet and Cactus Dodgers. Some of the early callers were Jeff Meadows and Paul Bye. Ray and Hazel Wise taught Beginners Square Dance lessons.

We now have Guest Callers and Cuers.

Lenora Regeon ~ Teaches and has Workshops Starting the 1st week of January at 88 Shades RV Park at 7pm. She came to us from Alaska where she called and taught. She is the President of our Club. She spends her Winters here in Quartzsite and her Summers where she calls for Ninilchik Casual Squares in Ninilchik Alaska, on the Kenai Peninsula.

The Club has 57 members and 12 Honorary members. We also belong to the Grand Canyon Square Dance Association.

Quartzsite is also know for holding one of the largest Gem and Mineral Shows in the Country which draws thousand of Winter Visitors. Quartzsite also has over 50 RV Parks.
